Agencies to Consider Basel III Proposals

The FDIC Board at a meeting yesterday stated on June 12 it will consider interagency proposals for implementing the Basel III international agreement. The Federal Reserve is also scheduled to consider the proposed Basel III regulations this Thursday.

Both agencies are also slated to approve a final rule establishing alternative standards to replace credit ratings in determining the capital requirements for certain debt and securitization positions covered by the market-risk capital rules.
