Kelly Thompson Cochran has been named the CFPB’s acting assistant director for regulations, the agency said yesterday. Cochran, who previously served as deputy assistant director for regulations, replaces Leonard Chanin, who accepted a position last week with the Morrison & Foerster law firm in Washington, D.C.
The CFPB also announced several other senior leadership changes. The bureau hired Chris Lipsett, a partner at the Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr law firm, as senior counsel in the office of the agency Director Richard Cordray. The bureau also promoted Stephen Van Meter, assistant general counsel for policy, to deputy general counsel.
In addition, the CFPB hired Delicia Reynolds Hand, legislative director at the National Association of Consumer Advocates, to oversee the agency’s Consumer Advisory Board, Community Bank Advisory Board, and Credit Union Advisory Board.
