FDIC to Host Two Free Teleconferences on CFPB Mortgage Proposals

The FDIC's Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection will host two free teleconferences—on Sept. 27 and Oct. 10 from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. EDT—on the CFPB’s significant mortgage-related proposals, the agency said yesterday. The teleconferences are open to officers and employees of all FDIC-insured institutions.

Topics that will be discussed during the Sept. 27 teleconference are mortgage originator standards; appraisals for higher-risk mortgages; Equal Credit Opportunity Act appraisal requirements; and mortgage servicing.

Topics that will be discussed during the Oct. 10 teleconference are Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act/Truth in Lending Act mortgage disclosure integration; ability-to-repay rule and the “qualified mortgage” standard; escrow requirements for higher-priced mortgage loans; and new provisions for high-cost (HOEPA) loans.
