Senate Banking Committee Post-Election

There will be little turnover in the Senate Banking Committee as Jon Tester(D-Mont.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) were all re-elected. Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii) and Herb Kohl (D-Wis.) opted not to run for another term.

The Democrats picked up two more seats in the Senate yesterday as Banking Committee member Jon Tester (D-Mont.) narrowly defeated Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.), and former South Dakota Attorney General Heidi Heitkamp (D) edged Rep. Rick Berg (R) in races that were too close to call on Tuesday night.

That leaves the new Senate with 53 Democrats, 45 Republicans and two independents.
