The House Republican Steering Committee yesterday officially endorsed Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee during the 113th Congress. Most observers expected Hensarling to succeed outgoing Chairman Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.), who has reached the position’s term limit under House GOP rules.
Hensarling’s endorsement from the steering panel was part of a list of 19 recommendations for committee chairmanships that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) released. The recommendations will be presented to the full House Republican Conference today for ratification.
