ABA Asks CFPB to Reconsider Appraisal Rule

ABA and the Mortgage Bankers Association have sent a joint letter to the CFPB regarding a final rule that requires lenders to disclose and deliver appraisals to consumers for both residential loans and commercial loans. The rule would add large burdens on lenders, as they may have to deliver thousands of appraisals to non-consumers in commercial settings.

The joint letter asks CFPB to reconsider the applicability of the appraisal rule to business credit and, if necessary, establish an exemption consistent with the treatment of business credit under other rules.

Read the full joint letter.
