ABA Urges Banks to Review Muni Advisor Rule

ABA is strongly encouraging banks to review the SEC’s final municipal advisor rule, which takes effect on Jan. 13, 2014, to determine whether they must register.

To help bankers understand the rule, ABA will hold a telephone briefing on Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 2-3:30 p.m. EST. Topics to be covered include products and services that could trigger registration, what is and is not “advice,” interest rate swaps as municipal derivatives, exemptions to the final rule and more.

Register for the telephone briefing.
