CFTC Launches Weekly Swaps Report

The CFTC has launched a weekly report on swaps based on data reported by swaps market participants as mandated by the Dodd-Frank Act. The report, scheduled to be published every Wednesday, is intended to bring greater transparency to the swaps market.

The first report, based on data from the week ending Nov. 8, showed that the market-facing, non-inter-affiliate swaps market that falls under Dodd-Frank regulation is $380 trillion in outstanding gross notional value. About 70% of new transactions in the interest rate swaps market were cleared, compared to around 21% cleared in 2008.
