ABA Posts Summary of Social Media Guidance

ABA has prepared a summary for member banks of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council’s (FFIEC) final guidance governing the use of social media. The guidance was released last week and clarifies that consumer protection laws and regulations apply to activities that banks conduct through social media just as they would to activities conducted through other channels.

The FDIC and other regulators will discuss the guidance on a free banker conference call Thursday, from 1-2:30 p.m. EST.

Register for the Thursday call.
