Keating-Massad Meeting Takes CFTC Advocacy to New Level

ABA President and CEO Frank Keating met with CFTC Timothy Massad to help educate the CFTC about its regulations’ effects on banks. The meeting — which was the first time Keating has met with Massad — came as the commission picks up new regulatory responsibilities for derivatives under the Dodd-Frank Act.

Keating and Massad discussed the importance of having a regulatory framework that supports the role banks play in managing risk on behalf of customers, applies regulations in a way that reflect risk objectives, and recognizes the dynamics of global markets.
