The FDIC has released a new guide to affordable single-family home loan programs, which collects information about programs to expand access to affordable mortgage credit, including programs targeted in rural and low- and moderate-income communities and to Native Americans and veterans. The guide is designed to help bankers compare different programs and their Community Reinvestment Act implications and to identify practical steps to participate.
The single-family loan program guide is the first in a new series. It covers federal and GSE programs from the Federal Housing Administration, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Future installments of the guide, to be released in the coming months, will cover affordable housing programs from state housing agencies and the Federal Home Loan Banks.
