Basel Issues FAQs on Market Risk Capital Framework

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has issued a set of frequently asked questions on its revised framework for market risk capital requirements, scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2019. The committee has estimated that the updated framework would result in a median increase of 22% in total market risk capital requirements for the large financial institutions affected. The FAQs cover both the standardized approach to market risk capital and the internal models approach and address several specific topics under each approach.
